China’s Jan-Feb nickel concentrates imports down 5%

The volume of nickel concentrates that China imported over January-February reached 4.3 million tonnes, down by 235,560 tonnes or 5.2% on year, Mysteel Global has calculated based on General Administration of Customs (GACC) data. The decline in imports was mainly due to Indonesia’s decision to ban nickel concentrate exports starting January 1, Mysteel Global noted.

During the past two months, China imported 1.98 million tonnes of nickel concentrates from Indonesia, one of the top two nickel concentrate supply sources for China worldwide, with the January-February total dipping by 771,178 tonnes or 28.1% on year, Mysteel Global calculated.
